North Hills Product Development specializes in the design and engineering of medical and consumer devices that require detailed, small-batch prototypes. When facing a fast-paced client timeline that called for hundreds of geometrically intricate parts, Principal Engineer Kyle Woodard turned to Inkbit to meet performance and delivery needs that traditional 3D printing services could not fulfill.

Inkbit’s Vision-Controlled Jetting process provided the high-resolution surface finish and multi-material capabilities required for this application. By printing integrated seals and overmold-like features, the Inkbit platform enabled Kyle to test functional assemblies more efficiently. Access to elastomeric and rigid materials in a single build allowed for accurate simulation of injection-molded final components.

Direct collaboration with Inkbit’s engineering team ensured that Kyle could iterate designs rapidly while maintaining dimensional fidelity. With flexible lead times and ashared focus on functional accuracy, Inkbit produced 600 units in a single business day to support North Hills’ deadline.

“Inkbit has been very flexible to work with. They were able to turn around a 600-part order in one business day for me. While this was a special case, they were willing to accommodate my order when no one else could in that timeframe.”

Although same-day turnaround is not part of Inkbit’s standard process, the team fulfilled this request by delivering the parts in their uncured or “green” state. This allowed Kyle to begin fit assessments and downstream testing without delay, accepting reduced mechanical strength in favor of shorter cycle time. For expedited projects, this option can offer meaningful value without compromising functional insights.

This collaboration demonstrates how engineering teams can shorten their product development timelines using Inkbit’s high-precision, multi-material platform, supported by direct communication and tailored production scheduling.
